Chester is such an easy city to like. It has the best things about city life - 24hr taxis, takeouts / deliveries etc but all the nice things about being in the "country". Having grown up in a small welsh village, I appreciate the best of both!
Grosvenor Park and the meadows are so pretty, and so close to the city. We went with our little dog Kate today, and had a nice stroll along the river and sat a while and watched the boats go past. We left our phones at home, and just had a nice relaxing afternoon in the sun.
What made the day (for me) was a nice Ice Cream from Cheshire Ice Cream Farm. I love ice cream, and the ice cream it's self is stunning - and the ice cream farm is perfect!
It is free to get in and free parking, there are lots of animals you can see whilst you are there too! They have just had a foal Shetland pony - so tiny and ridiculously cute. It is smaller than your average dog at the moment and well worth a visit!
So generally - Chester is amazing, come to Chester river and have an Cheshire Ice Cream Farm ice cream to finish the day. Heaven!
